Pulse Irrigation

Eco-Pulse Emitter System

The Pulse Emitter suits any irrigation application where a slower but consistent precipitation rate is required.

Suits:

  • Systems that rely on a low pressure* water supply from either mains water or pumping systems (operates as low as 175 kpa (25 PSI) operating pressure).
  • Re-useable water systems
  • Greenhouse and garden fertigation
  • Frost protection
  • Dust suppression
  • Cooling and evaporative systems

How it works:

The Eco-Pulse Emitter consists of a flow controlled inlet at its base that allows water to enter an accumulation pressure chamber. When water fills this chamber, it is released under pressure and is released through an emitter at its outlet. Water is expelled many times per minute in a pulsating action which is not wind affected. The emitter uses the same amount of water but spreads more evenly over a wider area than a conventional dripper using the same flow rate.

Outlet emitters (spray heads) vary in design to suit the particular application required.

Components of typical system:

  • Mains water supply, holding tank or resevoir
  • Low pressure pump
  • Standard irrigation tubing and fittings
  • Eco-pulse emitters
  • Pressure guage (optional)
  • Installation tools (minimal)

Installation:

Simply lay out the irrigation tubing as you would a standard micro sprinkler system. Make sure all connections are clamped tight, and connect to water supply. Simply install the Eco-Pulse emitters at various intervals along the irrigation tubing where required. Prior to installation, determine available flow rate from water supply. Calculate MAX number of emitters on line to be as follows:

(Available flow in litres at 175 Kpa (25 PSI) operating pressure) divided by (Intake flow rate of required emitter)

Example:
An available flow rate from a pump drawing water from a tank is 10 litres per minute at 175 Kpa.
10 litres x 60 minutes = 600 litres per hour.
Using 4 litre per hour emitters, you could run a minimum of 150 Eco-Pulse emitters.

Comparisons:

Drip systems - Eco-Pulse emitters have different pattern of emission - greater area of coverage than standard dripper.
Micro spray - Eco-Pulse emitters are not wind affected and can operate at very low pressure compared to standard micro sprays.
